“THE USE OF MEDIA, INDEPENDENT MEDIA AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR CSOs AND THE IMPORTANCE FOR CSOs TO USE MEDIA TOOLS”

The trainees were nominated by civil society organizations in order to develop staff in the subject of media, according to their vision.
The number of participants is 19 from 12 civil society institutions.
Parts of thetraining: The trainer divided content to two daysas follows:
1.First day: Ice breaking, the Concept of the media, Media and the community, skills in building the story, Writing for Radio and TV, and Writing for Print and Online.
The Training started with breaking the ice between participants, he divided them up into two partners to get to know each other for a few minutes, to get some personal information about each other and afterwards each participant introduced their partner to the group.
Then the trainer presented the definition of media in general, and made a comparison between traditional media and social media as well as their advantages for the process training on writing a press release, journalistic story, methods to write for radio and television, the way you write on social media and distinguishing features of each type.
2.Day Two: Preview of the first day, the Press Conference, Freedom of Expression, Media Ethics, Story pilot (Radio-Print- Online), The Role of TheSocial Media.
On the second day, after the preview, the trainer focused on how to set up a press conference, he focused on the mechanism to ask questions and how to write the news quickly based on key points raised in the conference, and also discussed freedom of expression and the laws associated with it to sensitize it for protection from falling into what is called “invective and libel”.
With regards tomedia ethics the trainer focused on presenting the humanitarian side as a theme and not just numbers and statistics, so therefore he displayed experiences and stories ;both written for radio, publications, or to spread through the Internet and how it impacts the public so that the human consciences considered in using social media in the dissemination of news in addressing societal issues and delivering them to the largest possible segment of people.
The training was effective in providing the basic information and media topics necessary for trainees to cover the news and their positions as journalists or activist in the simplest means to raise the invoice for the benefit of the Palestinian society.
