"Voluntary Work" camp

Around fifty five young girl and boy participated in the “Voluntary Work” camp at Aboud village near Ramallah, during September 2013. This camp was held by Baladna association from Haifa in cooperation with the Palestinian Youth Union, and it lasted for three days. Those participants came from all over the Palestinian cities and villages from the west bank and the 48 lands, from Haifa, Nazareth, Tulkarem, Nablus, Kafr Yaseef, 'Araara, and other villages.

                                                             

The camp was held to build a communicational space between the Palestinian youth from different towns and backgrounds, and to exchange the experiences and the life experiments.  It also enhanced the national belonging, and the social connections. The camp has succeeded in breaking the virtual wall between the Palestinian youth who are facing a lot of problems because of the discrimination of the Israeli occupation all over the Palestine. Moreover, the “Voluntary Work” camp firmed the value of volunteering and giving through many activities.

                                                  

Hand by hand to build Palestine 

The program of the camp included many voluntary activities at the main street of Aboud village, the participants did some cleaning and rebuilding for the old buildings and the streets, the also painted the white lines of the streets.  There were some workshops about the Palestinian identity   and the dangerous which the Palestinians are facing nowadays. On the other hand, the PYU’s staff organized a field tour in the village included the Barbara church, they also visited the some Roman ancient ruins in “Al- Maqate’” area, and the tour was ended in the Lemon valley where the participants had a lovely evening with the musician Saed Karazon and his friends who played some musical pieces on oud.

                  

At the last day of the camp, Mr. Jibreel Muhammad presented a lecture about “The volunteering in the culture of the Palestinian community work”, the lecture included the historical narration of the changes in the values of voluntary work, after that, there was a discussion about the opportunities of developing the youth voluntary work, and bringing back all the good values of this work to the society.
